Glenlivet 12, a Speyside single malt, offers a balanced and approachable whisky experience with dominant maltiness, vanilla sweetness, fruity and floral notes, and a touch of oak and caramel. The palate reveals citrus hints, subtle spiciness, and a smooth transition from sweet to slightly sour notes. With a mix of European Oak, American Oak, and Sherry casks, it presents a good value proposition for beginners, providing a consistent and enjoyable drinking experience.

Sweet juicy malt and then the spiciness of the casks come through. The value for the money is really good.

I'm getting fruit and wood on the nose. Fifty dollars for what you're getting is very high value.

The Malt is a dominant character. It's an all right whiskey. 40 ABV, $30-32 price for a 750ml bottle. How many single malt Scotch whiskies out there with an age statement like a 12-year-old for under 40 bucks? They're getting to be rarer and rarer. Obviously, this is a hugely mass-produced whiskey, widely available. It's not real complex, fairly simple. If someone is new to whiskey and just trying something out, this is a good place to start.

There's a maltiness, fresh vanilla, caramel, gentle and little citrus notes on the top. This one is one of the really the good ones in high volume.

It's what you call a soft Landing in the palette, dominated by sweet and sour, a very soft bitterness in the development, and something slightly crisp and apple-like in the finish. It's a very competent beginner's whiskey.

I think I do. I think unfortunately we just filmed the Toronto video so I still have a little bit of that soapiness flavor kind kind of covering my tongue. The spearmint menthol, but I do think I get that apple, um, pineapple flavor when I taste it. I actually like this.

Glenlivet 12 Years
The 12 year old Glenlivet is a very good entry whisky, better than most for that price.

I really like this blend. It's something I could drink and pay attention to the nuances, or just enjoy in the background.

Glenlivet 12 Year Old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
It's an all right whiskey. It's sort of an apertif, a pre-dinner drink. Fairly simple, not overly complicated, doesn't require a whole lot of thought.

Sip It or Skip It: Glenlivet 12
I think it's easy for a beginner, and it's not overpowering, so I would keep this on the shelf.
